i just figured out that dr2 was coming out yesterday, jeez,i didnt know
Stuart
So you figured Capcom would announce the game but not the release date and that we would somehow know? btw Google is your friend. Should the release date be announced there would be many topics discussing it and would easily be found on any major gaming news site. The point is there are much easier ways to find out than posting a new topic and presuming that people already know
Niko_Bellic
those release date topics are driving me crazy! srsly, google,IGN,gamespot etc...even wikipedia!!

to be fair you haven't even seen the trailer. you just saw a bad recording on a digital camera of the trailer. theres a big difference to if u watch it properly

I think the video was intended to be like that. It was uploaded to XBL spotlight and it wasn't a direct feed of the video itself, its just the same as it is on youtube.

That trailer was leaked I assume you understand what that means. The reason there no direct feed is because capcom havent yet released it to the press. Meaning this shaky cam footage is the only footage people outside of Capcom has access to.
Chinner
You assume it was leaked. Timing of when the video was released and comments made by Blue Castle developers suggests that it was made and released to spur up attention just before DR2 was announced. Also, perhaps I wasn't clear before but you missed my point about the DR2 video on XBL. Microsoft never rips videos of youtube, they always given it by Capcom. This further reinforces the point that the video was intended to be shakey.

Yeah well many gamesites such as IGN and GT have never done that either but guess what? I've never seen any trailer where you could see the tv and the scart leads, its shaky cam footage, its a leaked trailer. Hence all the rumours about wether it was fake or not after its initial apperance, only after Capcom responded to the leak was it confirmed that the trailer was authentic I didn't assume anything, I went off what profesional game sites have said. Also where do you think the original footage originated huh? You think it just sprung on youtube out of nowhere? Its the only trailer there is so MS are just gonna have to make do.

I don't see how shakey cam footage instantly makes it leaked. Its designed to be like that to spur up discussions such as this.

Besides, if this guy really did leak the video why would he put "Fake" as one of the video tags? Again, its just a ploy to get everyone speaking.

Again, this is the point of the video: Its designed to make people speculate whether or not its real. Its a great marketing move to get people talking about DR2 before it was officially announced (which was like 3 days after).

Oh. Well unless the professional game sites were under NDA or had sources within Capocom, they were in the dark just like us.

I never said that it 'sprung on youtube out of nowhere', and that doesn't go along with what I've been saying anyway. The most sensible answer would be that the youtube account that was used to put the video up is probably used just for marketing, as the contents of the account is just trailers and official gameplay videos. Thats why the supposed 'leaker' who put up the video has not responded to anyones questions. They or it were told to keep quiet and let everyone else figure it out.

You also mentioned the point of Capcom not releasing the direct feed of the video to the press yet. Doesn't the fact that the video has not been 'released' yet prove that the video itself was designed to be viral and get everybodies attention? Also, if Capcom were trying to get the most attention possible and make everyone forget about the leak, wouldn't it be most logical to release at the same time as the PR announcement of DR2?
Stuart
you're speaking in absolutes, your theory: that this all a ploy by Capcom is just that a theory. Even if it was designed as a viral marketing the device my point remains valid, the trailer is clearly shot with a handheld cam as I have pointed out previously and therefore isn't a fair example of the game due to the quality of the video. If it is viral and was released by Capcom intentionally to get people talking this further supports my point.

No and I dont see how it would, chances are that is the only trailer they've put together so far, many trailers put together internally never make it to the public.

I dont see your point, it seems like your kinda contradicting your own theory here. If its aleak then they'd have no control over its release, this is the very nature of a leak.
Chinner
Lets just cut to the chase. The points we're making are the same, its just the semantics we seem to disgree about: You're saying someone in Capcom/Blue Castle leaked it, I'm saying it was released intentionally. I could keep making points and points but its not going to convince you.

I will clear this up though:

No. Thats not my point at all. I was following your line of thought to explain why it didnt make sense.

Edit: Just one more quick point: Publishers always have their eyes on sites like youtube to make sure leaks dont happen. If they happen, they contact the site and its taken down. This happens all the time on youtube. Capcom could of taken this video down immediately if they wanted to, but nope - the video that was first put up is still there, untouched.

I agree and Im content to agree to disagree but about your final point I thought I'd just let you know that at some events its perfectly legit to make your own recordings and the publishers will allow you to, such as at gamecity (which is a uk event you may be unfamiliar with) although it often doesnt matter because all the major events such as E3 very quickly release direct feeds of all the new anouncments and trailers.

This could quite easily be the reason no attempts were made to remove the trailer, or its possible that Capcom made the decision to leave the trailer up as they were about to make the official PR anyway. Just a thought
mrcelophane
personally, I think the shaky camera footage was the point...like it was supposed to be a camera taking a picture of a news report...

did it ever have the logo in it? because if not, it could have the intention of being a viral video...which would mean it was meant to be taht way

either way, im just glad its official
