Like most remakes (or wide release horror movies) these days, this film is depressingly close to being decent. I say depressingly, because most of the elements for a good movie are present. The set designs and production values are nice and high, the gore (save an annoyingly CGI kill at the end) is nice, there's a couple twists on the original movie that I think work pretty well, and Jackie Earle Harely works wonders as Freddy (as expected). But the acting is weak, along with most of the script (which, when tied with the score, makes even little lines seem absurdly cheesy), and the film's nothing but jump scare after jump scare. It's not a bad movie by any means, it's just not that good. Worth a watch and then quickly forgotten.

The Collector.
Like I said in the other thread it was pretty good in that torture porn kinda way and I really liked the main character, but then right at the end I was like 'Oh for fucks sake' the pulled a really cliche cheesy stunt that just made no sense.

Carlito's Way.
Pretty damn good. Al Pacino does an amazing job as a former gangster trying to go straight, and you really feel for him as everything and everyone just keeps trying to pull him back into the dark. Definitely one of the ultimate crime movies out there.

That's a TV show not a movie, lol.
Observe and Report.
Still one of the darkest, meanest comedies I have ever seen. Seth Rogan plays the opposite of what he normally does, becoming a mentally unhinged and dangerous (yet still strangely lovable) mall cop who's a little too into his job. Much hilarity ensues, many involving jokes that range from date rape to a full-frontal flasher. It's a film you may feel bad for laughing at, but will still love (well, depending on your type of humor of course).

Clerks.
What else is there to say about this cult classic comedy? It's the story of two guys in a convenience store, and the things that happen to them. Full of largely esoteric dialogue and a bundle of questionable characters, it's a movie that will always make you laugh. Especially if you're in the service industry, since a lot of the annoying customers that come in are all too real...

The passed few days, I have been with a girl.. We have had movies on, but didnt exactly watch it all..
Dead Air - Awesome movie, if it had better actors, would of been epic. Had the guy who played Otis, in one of my favorite movies, The Devils Regects.
Night of the Living Dead(2005) - I didnt know that that was even made, haha. Also had someone from The Devils Regects.
Diary of the Dead - Has its ups and downs.
Step Brothers - Fucking funny!
I love you, man - Fucking funny!

The Godfather.
Really, what's left to say about this film? The penultimate Mafia movie, and quite possibly a perfect film. It's also one of those movies where every scene is someone's favorite, somewhere (I'm always partial to the part where Michael and Enzo stand guard outside the hospital). Not a lot of films can say that.
Crank: High Voltage.
About as completely ridiculous and outrageous as a movie could hope to get. Hilarious with how WTF it is, Jason Stathom continues to be the ultimate bad-ass as he beats up everyone (including death) in every conceivable way. It's one of the best "shut up and watch" movies out there, and doesn't try to patronize you by taking itself seriously. It knows what it is, and it runs with that (and beyond).

Frankie
May 11 2010, 07:06 AM
Yeah I know what it means, obviously. I've been up all night watching movies and just sitting here doing absolutely nothing. It's like 2:00 a.m. I don't know where my head is at...
I'm tired as Hell but can't sleep. Fuck you insomnia! And continuing...
Inglourious Basterds.
Quentin Tarantino's best movie? As much as I love Pulp Fiction (and I do love it so), that may be the case here. An absolutely awesome WWII story that actually goes and does something very different with nearly-stale genre. Kick-ass movie from beginning to end.

pe·nul·ti·mate –adjective 1. next to the last:
Now what exactly does that have to do with The Godfather? You mean The Godfather was the second to last mafia movie ever made? Because Im pretty sure thats not true.
The reason I ask is because I figured you just mean 'Ultimate' or you were making some clever argument about the Godfather.
It just seems like a very odd word to use to describe it
Frankie
May 11 2010, 08:36 AM
Huh? I wasn't making no clever argument. I love the movie. And yes, "ultimate" was probably the word I was looking for at that time or something down that line. Like I said - I'm tired as Hell, I've been up a full 24-hours, expect typos from me.

Twilight.
I'm going to ignore the wooden acting, hilariously awful script, and awful special effects. I'm going to ignore the constant overtones of teenage angst and 'romance'. And I'm going to ignore the piss poor villain (with his three second introduction and one minute exposition as to why he's evil). I'm even going to ignore the whiny, Mary-Sue lead and her supposedly hot whiny, Gary-Stu boyfriend. What I'm going to bitch about is the complete lack of vampires in this movie. Oh sure, they have super strength, excellent climbing abilities, and are incredibly fast (honestly, I've all but come to expect that by now). And they can read minds and be seen in mirrors (both of which I'll let slide as personal interpretation, especially the latter). But I cannot forgive them being out in sunlight and nothing bad happens.
Oh wait. They sparkle. If they're out in the sun they sparkle like someone through glitter all over them. Nevermind, I guess something bad does happen to them in the sunlight, my mistake.
>_<
It's a laughably mediocre film from an apparently mediocre book series. But you all already knew that, of course.

8 Mile.
I decent film. A great song for the movie... glad that won an Oscar for the Best Original Song. Marshall Mathers' acting is good in the movie - I honesty thought he wouldn't be able to pull it off but he did. Some scenes feel out-of-place at times which makes me think that there were more scenes in some places that were edited out of the movie. Nonetheless it's still a decent movie in my books.

Yeah. Amazing CGI but the story is so lame and so full of plot holes, it's almost undwatchable. Not to mention the stupidity of the names, and lame rip-offs.
Hmm, let's take a look at the ALIEN RACE Na'vi.
They live in a ofrest, hunt with bows and arrows, wear war paint, put things in their hair, talk to animals, tell stories around a campfire, and ride horses. Yeah, doesn't sound like Indians AT ALL. And I find it funny that these are ALIENS FROM ANOTHER PLANET, and yet they call the horses, horses, call the birds, birds, and the planet is taken from a human tale. You know, Pandora's Box. I swear James Cameron is an amazing filmmaker but this was just stupid. He needs to learn that CGI doesn't make a movie.
I also get a kick out of the rock thingy's name that the goverment wants. Why not just call earth "Other Planetious" and the Na'vi "Blue cat people"?
Nevertheless, the CGI was amazing. The last 40 minutes of the film made it watchable. Hopefully the sequel is much better.

American Psycho.
Love you Patrick Bateman. Your impeccable style, your love of 80s music (from Huey Lewis and the News to Genesis), your business card, your choice in axes and chainsaws... yep, your a real American man of that decade. And such a happy camper to boot!
Loved these quotes from the movie...
"There's a moment of sheer panic when I realize that Paul's apartment overlooks the park... and is obviously more expensive than mine." ~ Patrick Bateman
"(Looking at a business card) Look at that subtle off-white coloring. The tasteful thickness of it. Oh my God, it even has a watermark." ~ Patrick Bateman
"You are a fucking ugly bitch, I want to stab you to death, and then play around with your blood." ~ Patrick Bateman
How could you not love Patrick Bateman?
