But it wasn't the cursing that was my point, it was not only the the sillyness of the ban, but also that some mods just go drunk with power, ban-happy. Banning people for stupid shit, even provoking them so they can ban them, just because it makes them feel powerful.

I saw one mod on the very same fan site provoke a guy on and on and on, and finally the dude spoke up and told the mod to knock it off, and the mod banned him. Then the mod ACTUALLY said "Not so tough now huh? We'll see you disrepect me after a month."
